This photo was taken the day that Garland Bandit went from winning Group One at a Borzoi supported entry all-breed show to the coursing field where he was awarded Best in Field by Lyle Gillette (of Rancho Gabriel Borzoi, the grandfather of lure coursing in the United States) all in one day. This was at a time when it was common knowledge "that Borzoi are not capable of the double suspension gallop".

Ggarland Bandit started his show career with a bang. At his first three matches on two consecutive weekends, he was Best in Match all three times, defeating over 1000 dogs by a year of age. He was a Group One winner from the classes. He was one of the best smilers that we ever produced, carrying on the legacy of his wonderful Dutch-import father.
